EVENING STAR

Evening Star

Well I had a bit of time today to do up a fly, wanted to try the evening star, always liked this pattern but was scared to try it. The Jungle Cock is very tricky.

Well here it is.

Working on New Association Website

Well I've had a few days off since leaving my old job and waiting for the new one to start. I've been playing with a new website design for the Nova Scotia Fly Tyer's Association. An Association that I founded in the Winter of 2005.

Here's our official logo, designed by my friend Jesse Samson, Jesse built the first site, but like all things change is needed eventually.

I hope to get it active soon for all to see.

Arial view of Cheticamp. The community is surrunded by mountains. Because
of its unique topography, the area is famous for some of the strongest winds
in the world. At times, roofs have even been lifted right off of buildings by the
fierce south-east winds called the suête, a spring-time wind storm that can
generate winds in excess of 200 km per. The location was initially chosen by
fishermen because the area is ideal for landing and drying fish. The harbour
was at one time one of the deepest in the area. It is still a major fishing port.

Where we are moving

Well here's an arial shot of where we are moving. The town of Cheticamp is a bit further down, just out of this picture, but this is the end of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park in Cheticamp and the view of where we are moving.

Well it's been awhile since I posted anything, things have been pretty busy, haven't done much tying at all. I've been sick a week and a half and starting to shake it a bit, that time of year.

I've also been working on landing another job and as of today I'm finished working for EDS Canada and start in the next few weeks a new exciting career as a Call Centre Manager with another Company. I'll be moving at the end of October about 200 km's further up Cape Breton Island to a Town called Cheticamp and I'm looking forward to next years Salmon Season.

Been Awhile

Well it's been awhile since I posted. Things have been pretty busy, interviewing for a new job with a different company, visiting family, spending time with my wife and the kids. So little time for Internet or tying.

Another Pic of the Highlander

Green Highlander

Some more tying time today.
Here's a Green Highlander I tied, it's sitting on a 12" long
Speckled Kori Bustard feather. I used Hen Saddle for the
body and throat hackle and really like the fullness of the hackle
compared to that of the Salmon Fly Cock Necks that we
usually use for the hackle.

Here's another Ackroyd, couldn't go to sleep so I stayed up a bit longer and here's the outcome.

New Fly Tonight

Well I got some more time to tie a few flies today, did a Lady Amherst for the NSSA Fundraiser that's shipping out with the Buried Treasure Spey Flies in the next few days.

Also did up this fly, The Double White Winged Ackroyd Spey, kinda like the way this one turned out. It's for sale now on Ebay-Click Here!!


There's another one with half a body sitting in the vise now, but it's almost 11:30pm, think that's it for the tying today.

Completed my first lesson for the Outdoor Writing Course I'm taking, submitted my first story and the answers to the quiz. Hopefully it comes back with good critique and good marks!!
